Big Mileage

These next 3 weeks are going to be big mileage weeks.  I have 9 miles tonight, 8 miles next sunday, followed by 11 miles the Saturday after that, and 10 miles the 3rd Saturday of April.  On top of the upped mileage starting on Monday April 4th, the Triathlon training begins.  I have 5 weeks of overlap between the 2 events, the biggest concern I have right now is figuring out when and where to get my swim workouts in.  Its not very checkbook friendly to pick up a 2nd gym membership, especially when you figure in start up fees.  I'm hoping to scam a free week each out of the 2 gyms in town with lap pools.  When that's done I'm hoping I can finagle a $5 daily rate with one of them or at worst get a 3 month package for $100.  I have 24 swim workouts and only need the 2nd gym for those workouts.  It'll be a fun negotiation.  The good news is, we have no trips planned for the month of April, meaning I get to sleep in my own bed, sleep in on the weekends, and take naps if needed.  Plus the to-do list can get spread out over 7 days instead of 4.  Hope everyone has enjoyed the NCAA basketball tournament and is ready for opening day this Thursday..

Back from Vacation

I took a 4 day trip to the Twin Cities this past weekend.  It was a great 4 days of friends, food, booze, basketball, and wrestling.  However, it caused me to miss my first run in the training schedule.  It took me 7 weeks of training to miss a day, and I don't plan on missing anymore so I'm not too concerned, but it always hurts a little that first time.

This week is a 4, 6, 5, 9 mile week.  I'm kind of excited for the 9 mile just to see how it feels on the legs.  This week is prep for the 2 fantasy baseball drafts this weekend plus playing catchup on TV shows, podcasts, and chores around the house, gonna be a busy week!!!

So I have reached the end of Month #2.  I weighed out for the Biggest Loser contest at the gym and lost 6 pounds and 7% body fat according to their scale.  We'll see how I did in the tale of the tape at the bottom of the post.  The first 2 months has gone quickly, I've had my first competition, I've taken my first extended trip(big 10 wrestling championships in Chicago) and I've transitioned to an outdoor centric program.  The next month is very hectic schedulewise so hopefully I can keep up all the miles I need to get ready for this half marathon.  Now onto the tale of the tape.
